Career Compass 2018

Six advertising professionals joined us on Thursday to talk about their jobs in the world of advertising. It turned out to be more than that. It blossomed into a fertile talk of experiences dealing with career switch ups to epic journeys. If you missed it, then there’s always next year………

After students socialized and consumed an absurd amount of M&M’s, participants listened to real professionals describe their experiences.  This wasn’t by any means a typical boring professor lecture, this was an in depth analysis of what each professional does and how they got to where they are now. All of the professionals had a unique story to share with GVSU students. I could tell you some of their stories, but you really had to be there to experience it firsthand. There’s no way I could relay their professional glory into digitized words! They were natural speakers that the audience related to. This was an experience that showed students what to expect in the future. They each spoke for about 15 minutes on different topics from creative media to account management. Then, a lovely Q & A followed where we raised some excellent questions about the field of advertising.
